Taize Worship

7:30pm in the Sanctuary
Contemplative candlelight chant, silence and meditation in the style of Taize, lead by community members.

Notes from our Taize organizers, Shannon and Dustin:

Our next prayer in the style of Taize will be this Sunday, June 25th at 7:30pm at Oak Bay United Church (1355 Mitchell Street for those who will be visiting for the first time).

We have started a monthly Taize email group with the intentions of letting you know the songs we will be singing that month, as well as connecting us so feedback and plans can be made. Also, gathering for a simple dinner before or 'family night' may be in the near future. If you'd like to be added to the Taize email list, please contact the church office.

The list of songs chosen each month are loosely based on what we have sung before (familiarly is a great thing!) and the theme of that month's prayer. Also, knowing the melody of the song in advance can create a level of comfort during the service which can allow for a deeper experience.

Advance requests for a song or to read a favorite poem, passage, or prayer during the service are welcome, and we would be happy to make additions. Our hopes are to create a connected group who not only attends for personal spiritual growth but as a means of connection to others.

For those who would be willing to participate in the readings, please let the leaders know when you arrive, or email the church office with your interest. Also, if you feel you would like to contribute any musical abilities, please let us know!

Below are you-tube links to the five songs we will be singing on the 25th. Copy and paste the link into your search tool to find the video.
