Keith Howard, Minister

Prior to joining Oak Bay United Church in 2011, Keith spent five years as the Executive Director of the United Church of Canada’s Emerging Spirit project, an effort designed to connect withthose between the ages of 30 and 45. His work at Oak Bay United draws upon his experience in three previous pastoral charges, work in print and radio communication and a deep interest in leadership.

Gaye Sharpe, Designated Lay Minister

Gaye Sharpe brings a deep passion and a breadth of experience working  with children and their families. As part of her work  with the church,  she also consults with other congregations and groups at the regional, provincial and national levels. Gaye's love of  children was

nurtured by her own five and is renewed daily by her five grandchildren.

 Gordon Miller, Music Minister

Gordon’s musical background includes training through the Canadian Armed Forces, School of Music. He is an accomplished trumpet player,

pianist and choral director. His contemporary and jazz styling on piano and guitar frequently come through on Sunday mornings. A life-long United Church adherent as a musician and musical director, he embodies a deep respect and appreciation for the musical traditions of the church.

We recently restructured the way we govern our organization and engage our ministries.  Our focus was to spend more of our gifts, time, energy, money and resources on ministry rather than administration and management.  We continue to create a leadership environment that is based on the gifts of those offering leadership.
