In honour of Earth Day 2026, join us for an all-ages community storytelling and art event, featuring author Robert “Lucky” Budd.

The event will begin at 2 pm (doors at 1:45 pm) in the OBUC Sanctuary, with Budd sharing Peace Dancer, a recounting of the the traditional Northwest Coastal legend of a great flood. Sent in response to disrespectful behaviour, the flood causes the people to re-examine their values and to re-commit to living in respect and harmony with all life.

Afterwards, all are invited to the downstairs Community Hall for hands-on art activities for all ages. All art materials will be provided, and light refreshments will be available.

This event is suitable for all ages. Admission is free, but donations are gratefully accepted.

Entry to the Oak Bay United Church Sanctuary is via Granite St.

Accessibility: for those with limited mobility, the OBUC Sanctuary can be reached by an accessibility lift, located off Granite Street, just east of the main entrance ramp.
