Village Workshop Series: Building Bridges Through Understanding the Village

On Saturday, March 14, Oak Bay United Church and St Mary's Anglican Church will host Kathi Camilleri’s “Building Bridges Through Understanding the Village,” an experiential workshop that helps us explore our own, personal role in supporting the revival of the values that worked so beautifully in indigenous villages for thousands of years. As a group, we also explore in‐depth the effects of Residential Schools and Canada’s Policy of Assimilation on Indigenous communities.

This full-day workshop will be held in the OBUC downstairs Community Hall from 9 am to 4 pm. The Hall may be accessed via the Granite St. entrance to the left/east of the main entrance ramp.

This is a repeat of the successful event held on Oct. 28., and is co-hosted by OBUC, St. Mary’s Anglican Church, and ReconciliACTION Oak Bay Network. Lunch and refreshments included. Cost is $30. If cost is a barrier, please let us know at the time of registration.

Lunch will be provided by Songhees Catering, owned and operated by Songhees First Nation. Using fresh local ingredients, they create a delicious modern take on Songhees cultural tradition. When you register, you will be able to select which protein choice/entree you would like: tofu (vegan), chicken, salmon, or prawns.
